Paul Teutul Sr., of Orange County Choppers,and Paul Jr., of Paul Jr. Designs, joined together, with Mikey, for the first time in 10 years to support their little friend, Ava Rose Barringer, 6, who is battling Chiari Malformation. This is a condition where the brain tissue extends into the spinal canal. On Sept. 16 the Teutuls took part in the Conquer Chiari Walk Across America at Algonquin Provincial Park in Newburgh. Mikey was a co-organizer of the event. The walk was attended by some 300 people and they raised over $10,000 for research. There is no cure for the disease, but through continued research and awareness there may one day be a cure for Ava and others who suffer from it. For more information go to Conquerchiari.org. Conquer Chiari (known formally as C&S Patient Education Foundation) is a public charity dedicated to improving the experiences and outcomes of Chiari patients through education, awareness, and research.
Conquer Chiari is very active in funding and promoting research. We have funded more than $500,000 of research and are growing quickly. To promote Chiari research, we organize a bi-annual professional research conference focused exclusively on Chiari, the only event of its kind.
